CHANGE
IS GOOD!
Everything old is new again. After being on the same platform
for nearly two years, we decided to give the magazine a long
overdue make-over. The new design is cleaner, and allows for
bigger and better images. In addition to a brand new look, we’re
excited to announce that we’ve added two new regular columnists:
Andrea Maraschi (whose article on Liutprand of Cremona’s visit
to Constantinople is on page 17), and Bethany Rogers, who will
be featured in our next issue on Medieval Pilgrimage. Last but
certainly not least, this magazine could not have been possible
without the tremendous efforts and talents of my new co-editor,
Caroline Quintanar, who will tell you a little bit about herself below!
Reader favourites, Minjie Su (whose article on Old Norse
seasons is on page 6) and Danièle Cybulskie (who writes in
this issue about medieval luck on page 12) will continue to
write fun, and fascinating pieces for the magazine. We will
keep bringing you our best regular features: news, travel, exhibition
exclusives, interviews, book reviews, and excerpts. We hope that
you enjoy the fresh new face of The Medieval Magazine and we
thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support over
the past two years in making the dream of this magazine a reality.

Hello! I am delighted to be apart of this fantastic publication and the
next phase of The Medieval Magazine. Medieval history, specifically
art history, has always been a passion of mine so this is wonderful
opportunity to couple my professional experience with a subject I love
dearly. Sandra and Peter are pioneers in bringing medieval history
in a digital format to the masses so I am honored to work with both
of them. This is my first issue and I am looking forward to the future
of this magazine and working with this great team of historians!
