The Medieval Magazine No. 106 / Vol 4 No 4 | Page 4

Or is it? After welcoming the first week of March with the infamous "Beast from the East" here in Europe, March roared in like a lion, as the saying goes. Meanwhile, North Americans enjoyed record breaking warm temperatures. A hodge-podge of strange weather all around.

This issue is its own mash up of oddities. From eating like a king – raw bacon and peacock anyone? To Icelandic cannibalism and magic, to art and animal sex, and a trip to Dorchester abbey, much like last week's weird weather, it's anything goes.

In this issue I also time travel and figuratively visit medieval St. Paul's Cathedral. Book lovers rejoice! If you're looking for a new read to add to your shelves, we have a review of Stephen Spinks' book which takes a behind the scenes look at the turbulent reign of Edward II.

Last but not least, we have big news! We are changing the look of the magazine to something a little less dated, a little snazzier, and much more reader friendly. The new look will be revealed on March 30th! Along with the revamp, we're welcoming a new co-editor onboard – Caroline Quintanar, who is also a keen traveller, lover of all things medieval Spain, and has a great piece on Dorchester abbey on p. 19!

Enjoy!

Sandra
