August Golf Events
As the Summer heat carries on , even the superintendent is trying to find new ways to cool down !
We are still staying very busy here at the Meadows and there are plenty of fun things to participate in . We are starting the month off on Saturday , August 5th with the Golf & Tennis combo clinic . This is a great clinic where you get an hour of instruction from your golf pros and an hour of instruction from your tennis pros . The best part about this clinic is watching the pros participate in a sport they are not as comfortable doing . This can truly put a smile on anyone ’ s face or at least a smile fore everyone that saw me try out tennis for the first-time last year .
Next up is the Putting Contest . This was a fun event last year and we are planning on it being even better this year ! The Putting Contest will be held on the Meadows Putting Green on Tuesday , August 8th at 6:30 PM . We set up a 6-hole course and a final skills challenge to take off a few extra strokes at the end of your round . There are 3 divisions for the event : men , women and children . We had lots of participation last year and I think everyone ’ s favorite part was watching the kids play , plus they beat a lot of us adults !
The last major golf event for the month will be held on Friday , August 25th . It is what we are calling the “ Old Course Classic ." The tournament will be held on the original 18 holes of the Meadows Country Club . You will play Hole # 1-3 & # 13-18 of the now Meadows Course , which used to be the original front 9 and # 10- # 18 of the Highlands Course , the original back 9 . Tom and I are excited to both participate in this event and to see the flow of the original 18 holes of the Meadows . It should be a fun day and we are hoping lots of members will join us for the event !
Peter Dennis , the Director of Instruction , is keeping the Saturday golf Clinics going so don ’ t forget to stop and sign up for your golf tune-up . Also keep your eyes open in August for a “ Hot Summer ’’ pro shop sale !
