Gender

roles in history

Throughout history, gender roles have had a huge impact on society. Until recently, women have been seen as inferior; they did the housework and took care of children. They were not given the same opportunities as their male counterparts. Men we’re seen as the sole source of hard labor and income for themselves and their family.

Today, we will be interviewing Scout Finch, age 62,

and asking her questions about her life and how she

feels about the gender divide in society as well as her

opinion on being a feminist.

About Scout

Scout is a woman who grew up in a town called Maycomb, Alabama. Her family includes her father; whose name is Atticus Finch, her brother's is Jem (aka: Jeremy), and her mother passed away when she was a little child. She came along at a time when the state of gender relations, the economy, and race relations were all poor. As a result, this no doubt had an effect on Scout and how she grew up.
