10 Technology Guidelines for Marketing Managers

GOOD VISION: Marketing managers need to have a clear and focused vision of the product or service. They need to understand the category their product or service falls into, and stick to that area. They also need to see potential growth opportunities and have a good eye for what is working and what isn't.

STRONG EGO: Marketing managers need to be able to take the lead on a project and set the vision. Design by committee groups are full of comprimise and usually lead to a lackluster porduct or service. One person in charge, with a clear vision, is almost always better than a group effort.

ARTISTIC EYE: Having a good sense of visual eye is key to being an effective marketing manager. Managers don't need to be the ones vreating the visually appealing items, but they do need to have good judgement when determining what is effective

UNDERSTAND THE MARKET: Good managers need to have a good understanding of who is in the market, as well as what is happening in the market. Knowing what the competition is doing and surveying the economic conditions are key to sustainability in a market.

UNDERSTAND THE CONSUMER: Good managers should also be able to understand the basic wants and needs of their consumers. Managers can then use this information to tailor products or services to fit their consumers' needs
