He added that Taiping has many charms especially the Lake Gardens, which is one of the country's oldest public parks which is well-maintained.

Architecture buffs, he said, can also admire the old colonial buildings in Taiping town, which was known as an

administrative centre when Tin was discovered during the British colonialism era.

On future plans, Uncle John said he hopes to do a cycling tour of Sumatera.

He had an idea of taking a ferry across from Penang to Medan and proceed to Lake Toba.

"This is by every chance, an adventure that I am looking forward to.

"I hope some serious foldies who are into touring will join me for this ride," he said, gesturing with a smile.
