The Maine Beaches has more than just one food “ scene .” Everywhere you turn , there is something good to eat .
The four Maine vacation food favorites — lobster rolls , fried clams , French fries , and ice cream — can all be enjoyed out-of-hand . In addition , you can always grab a great tasting burger or slice of pizza beachside .
Hit the Lobster Roll Trail around the Kennebunks , a two-dozen restaurant tour of the towns ’ best lobster roll spots . Whether on a buttered toploader or with mayo on a roll , this tasty crustacean creation is one of Maine ’ s most popular meals , found on virtually every menu across the region .
Congdon ’ s Doughnuts in Wells is a great place to indulge yourself . New England Bakery in Sanford and Satellite Doughnuts in Kennebunkport also serve up delight one doughnut ( or maybe one dozen ) at a time . Both Warren ’ s Lobster House and Bob ’ s Clam Hut in Kittery will satisfy a Maine seafood craving . Surf Point 360 in Ogunquit has heavenly food and a view to match . Earth at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport is an unmatched gastronomic experience , and The White Barn in Kennebunk serves up the best local and seasonal ingredients . At last count , there were over a dozen breweries in The Maine Beaches . Add to that a couple of distillers , many excellent wine shops , wine bars , and a place to pick up some mead . The odds are in your favor to find a locally-made beverage you will love .
A fun dinner option for warm weather visitors is Congdon ’ s After Dark . The only food truck park in New England , it offers up to 10 food trucks serving from 4 pm until late in the evening daily during the summer , and weekends spring and fall .
