outspoken against the Shariff
government. Thousands of
people took to the streets, with
Tahir Ul Qadri and Imran Khan
and camped outside the house
of Nawaz Shariff ordering his
resignation, over claims of
rigging the elections. The march
still continues. People still camp
out on the streets. Shariff still
refuses to give up his seat of
power. What a sham!
“Say, ‘O Allah , Owner of
Rulership, You give Rulership to
whom You will and You take
Rulership away from whom You
will. You honor whom You will
and You humiliate whom You
will. In Your hand is [all] good.
Indeed, You are over all things
competent.’ ” - The Holy Qur’an
Surat ‘Āli `Imran 26.
I am not here to doubt anyone’s
intention. People work with
what they have and Allah (swt)
knows the intentions of
creation. Imran Khan and Tahir
Ul Qadri could have good
intentions, but we know from
history that democracy, has
failed repeatedly. In a Muslim
nation, when such failures
happen repeatedly, who suffers
the most? The proletariat. They
have no voice. And yes, I can sit
and argue with religion how
democracy has failed and will
fail continuously, but I will say
this that no change can take
place while people accept the
oppressors, therefore I
commend the people of
Pakistan who have taken to the
streets during the sweltering
heat of August and not waited
for outside forces to come and
help, but decided to take a stand
and protest against the unjust
regime.
Even speaking out and standing
against the oppressors in
Pakistan was forbidden and
there was fear of police
brutality, but now we see the
police has joined the protestors.
Shariff’s time is nearly up.
