my religion, the fulfiller of my
promise and charge, my
follower and supporter against
Your enemy and mine, and the
reliever of my sorrows, I ask
you to bestow, the knowledge
You have given to Adam, the
forbearance You have given to
Noah, the good progeny and
the magnanimity You have
given to Abraham, the patience
You have given to Job in times
of affliction and trial, as well as
the strength You have given to
David when fighting peers, and
finally the discernment You
bestowed upon Salomon. O
Allah, do not conceal a thing in
this world from Ali, and make it
all visible to his eyes as a little
table between his hands. O
Allah, give him the endurance
of Moses and bring out of his
progeny the look-alike of Isa
(A.S)…][1].
This hadith indicates several things.
One...Ali bin abi Talib (as) speaks of how
the true knowledge of the family of
Muhammad (as) is such a heavy weight
to bear, so much so that the mountains
would not be able to do so. In the
supplication of the Messenger of Allah
(sawas) it shows the true nature and
qualities of Imam Ali (as), but the
Prophet of Allah (sawas) mentioned
something that is very clear and
important to understand, and it is the
very focus of this presentation. He
(sawas) said, "...and bring out of
his progeny the look-alike of Isa
(a.s.)" This indicates that the crucified
look-alike of Jesus, since Jesus (as) was
lifted up to Heaven and not crucified, as
mentioned in the verse of the Qur'an
earlier....has to be one of the Imams or
Mahdis (A.S) from the progeny of Ali
(as), which are the successors and
proofs of God in the Earth after the
Holy Prophet Muhammad (sawas).
As for the Imams (A.S) and they are 12
- with an exception made for the 12th
Imam, Imam Al-Mahdi (A.S) - none of
them stated or implied that he, his
predecessor, or successor were the
look-alike of Isa, who was crucified in
the place of Jesus (as). However, when it
comes to Imam Al-Mahdi (A.S), it was
narrated that [Al-Qa’im Al-Mahdi
is from the progeny of Ali and is
the one who bears the most
striking resemblance to Isa, the
son of Mary, whether it be
physically or morally, or in
countenance. Allah Almighty
will give him what He has given
to the prophets and more, and
He will prefer him over others]
[3].
Al-Qa’im is a common attribute that
refers at some times to Imam Al-Mahdi
(A.S), and at some other times refers to
a Qa’im, a Mahdi, (or rightly guided)
who will handle his affairs, who is his
chamberlain and deputy, which means it
refers to the guardian of Imam Al-Mahdi
(A.S) who is the first of the 12 Mahdis
as mentioned in the Will of the Holy
Prophet (sawas), he is Al-Yamani or the
appointed one to whom allegiance will
be paid. Therefore, at this time we know
that the look-alike of Isa (A.S), who was
crucified in the place of Jesus, would
either be Imam Al-Mahdi (A.S) or the
first Mahdi (Al-Yamani), son of the 12th
Imam and first of the close ones.
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH & His
House Hold) said: [Isa, son of Mary
(A.S), will descend at the break
of day[4]… He will break the
crucifix, kill the pig, destroy AdDajjal (the imposter), collect
the money of Al-Qa’im and
walk ahead of the People of the
Cave. He is the most trusted
helper of Al-Qa’im, his
chamberlain and his deputy,
and he will spread security in
the west and the east with the
blessing and dignity of the
authority and proof of Allah,
son of Al-Hassan (A.S)][5].
One can clearly see from this saying of
the Messenger of Allah (sawas), that the
crucified look-alike of Isa (A.S) is AlYamani. [As he is the most trusted
helper of Al-Qa’im, his chamberlain and
his deputy, and will appear before Imam
Mahdi (as), calling people to him.] It is
also interpreted that the sa 她
