Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: "I will
create a vicegerent on earth." They said:
"Wilt Thou place therein one who will
make mischief therein and shed blood? whilst we do celebrate Thy praises and
glorify Thy holy (name)?" He said: "I know
what ye know not."
The following Ayat also talks about them
being the only ones permitted to speak
before Allah:
O David! We did indeed make thee a

of leaders. Chosen by Allah, they are the
leaders whether they are chosen by the
people or ignored by the people.
If not even the Prophet (s.a.w.w) and his
Ahlul Bayt (a.s) can make the right choice
unless taught by the Lord of Mighty
Power, then none of us can.
6. When a Prophet who was one of the
Ulul Azm chose, a little while later he
repented and called those he had
chosen "the fools among us":
Even the story where the Prophet Musa
(a.s) chooses 70 people shows that there
is room for error:
[7.155] And Musa chose out of his people
seventy men for Our appointment; so when
the earthquake overtook them, he said: My
Lord! if Thou hadst pleased,Thou hadst
destroyed them before and myself (too); wilt
Thou destroy us for what the fools among us
have done? It is naught but Thy trial,Thou
makest err with it whom Thou pleasest and
guidest whom Thou pleasest:Thou art our
Guardian, therefore forgive us and have
mercy on us, and Thou art the best of the
forgivers.
8. Allah chooses not just Prophets and
Imams, but also Kings. Rejecting a King
chosen by Allah is a sin:
In the Quran the choice of Allah is not
confined to Prophets, but also to Kings
and righteous people. These are
nominated by the Prophet of that time.
[35.32] Then We gave the Book for an
inheritance to those whom We chose from
among Our servants; but of them is he who
makes his soul to suffer a loss, and of them
is he who takes a middle course, and of
them is he who is foremost in deeds of
goodness by Allah's permission; this is the
great excellence.
Thus indicating that one’s leader must
always be a chosen of Allah. King Talut (a.s)
was chosen by Allah and nominated by
the Prophet Dawud (a.s) in Surah
Baqarah:
[2.246] Have you not considered the chiefs
of the children of Israel after Musa, when
they said to a Prophet of theirs: Raise up for
us a king, (that) we may fight in the way of
Allah. He said: May it not be that you would
not fight if fighting is ordained for you? They

7. The Choice of Allah is self sufficient
and does not rely on the recognition of
it's accuracy by the people:
homes and our children. But when fighting
was ordained for them, they turned back,
except a few of them, and Allah knows the
unjust.
[2.247] And their Prophet said to them:
Surely Allah has raised Talut to be a king
over you. They said: How can he hold
kingship over us while we have a greater
right to kingship than he, and he has not
been granted an abundance of wealth? He
said: Surely Allah has chosen him in
preference to you, and He has increased him
abundantly in knowledge and physique, and
Allah grants His kingdom to whom He
pleases, and Allah is Amplegiving, Knowing.
The story above also shows how people,
after asking for the choice of Allah, reject
it.
9. Allah chooses not just Prophets and
Imams but also Commanding Officers of
armies and Governors of countries.
Recjecting them is a sin:
Once Allah has chosen and His choice is
revealed by the Prophet (s.a.w.w) or
Imams, then it is compulsory to act on it.
This is not limited to leadership based on
Prophethood or Imamat, but is also
extended to leadership based on
commanding officers of armies and
governors of countries who have been
nominated by the Prophet or Imam of
that time.
For example, when the Prophet (s.a.w.w)
appointed Usamah bin Zayd as
