any kind of opinion." Interview with

We hope that the fighting,
dedicated nation will, after careful
study of the past records of candidates and
groups, cast their votes in favor of persons
who are faithful to the dear Islam and the
constitution, immune to leftist or rightist
leanings and are of extolled virtues and
well-wishers of the nation and committed to
the laws of Islam.
ON ELECTIONS and THE
ELECTED:
ON DEMOCRACY:
1.
"Don't listen to those who
speak of democracy. They all are
against Islam. They want to take the
nation away from its mission. We will
break all the poison pens of those who
speak of nationalism, democracy, and
such things." -Ayatollah Khomeini (in a
meeting with Iranian students and
educators, Qom,[3] March 13, 1979)
2.
"The intellectuals, the writers,
those who have information and
thoughts, you see some of them take
their pens and in the name of
democracy they write whatever they
want and they cause disagreements.
This group of so-called intellectuals has
to correct themselves. Whatever we are
suffering is from this group of
intellectuals and judges. What we are
suffering is because of them.”-Ayatollah
Khomeini (in a talk in Qom, July 23, 1979)
1.
Take care the objective of elections
is ultimately to preserve Islam. If the
sanctity of Islamic issues are not observed in
the related publicity and propaganda, how
can the elected person be a preserver of
Islam.
2.
Take care that the President of the
Republic and Majlis representatives come
from classes who have felt the deprivation of
the oppressed and are concerned with their
welfare and are not of the capitalist,
landmongering, affluent and profligate
individuals who are unable to understand
the pains of deprivation and the sufferings
of the hungry and barefooted.
3.
Let persons who are elected be the
real choices of the nation.
4.
I humbly ask you that as far as
possible agree with one another in electing
representatives and dedicated, Islamic
persons who do not deviate from the divine
straight Path.
3.
"Those who are trying to bring
corruption and destruction to our
country in the name of democracy will
be oppressed. They are worse than
Bani-Qorizeh Jews... (Bani-Qorizeh): A
Jewish tribe that continuously fought
against Mohammad sawas) and they
must be hanged. We will oppress them
by God's order and God's call to
prayer." -Ayatollah Khomeini (in a talk at
the Fayzieah School, Qom, August 30,
1979)
4.
"In the revolution that was
achieved in Iran, people were
screaming that they wanted Islam;
these people did not rise up so their
country could have democracy." Ayatollah Khomeini (in a meeting with the
Islamic Republic Television and Radio
Committee, Qom, December 10, 1979)
5.
"We would like to run the
Islamic government like Islam at its
beginning, so that people know how
different the Islamic democracy is from
other democracies. If the people of the
world know the benefits of Islam, my

You should carefully study the past
record of persons you intend to elect, how
they have conducted themselves before the
Revolution, during the Revolution and ever
His Excellency, our beloved Imam Ahmad
al Hassan (as) has defined the whole process
of Divine Leadership by saying:
“A leader must be appointed and he
must possess or be provided with all
the knowledge he needs and people
must be commanded to obey him.”
A leader must be appointed;
2:30 {Behold thy Lord said to the
angels: "I will create a vicegerent on
earth." They said "Wilt thou place
therein one who will make mischief
therein and shed blood? Whilst we do
celebrate Thy praises and glorify Thy
holy (name)?" He said: "I know what
ye know not."}
And the fact that this caliph is the most
knowledgeable (2:31) And He taught Adam
the names of all things; then He placed
them before the angels and said: "Tell Me
the names of these if ye are right.” And
the command to obey that caliph (15:29)
"When I have fashioned him (in due
proportion) and breathed into him of
My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance
unto him." The law to recognize Allah’s
caliph or the law to recogniz
