says: “.....for worship with Knowing is empty without meaning.” What is this meaning? What is this knowing? In short, the explanation about this matter is the "He" that He (swt) manifested for us to know Him in the status of Godhood and Lordship, and in our journey towards exploring and finding and knowing the absolute Divinity and Godhood....it is this journey that we find ourselves incapable of understanding and knowing true divinity and Godhood. So we admit and bear witness that we were incapable. Incapable of knowing the true reality, the true essence of Allah (swt), “Huwa”, which is the greater, greater, greater name of Allah (swt). Insha'Allah if we reach this level of truly knowing that we could never know Him (swt), then we have reached the Truth and the true reality of the Divine Essence. Keep in mind, that this can make perfect and complete sense, however it is that complete knowing, that complete certainty, and strong faith without any spot of doubt in it, that can help us reach this rank of understanding. The Book of Tawheed from Sayyid Ahmad Al Hassan al-Yamani (a.s) is very heavy and one to be contemplated. The purpose or intention of this article is not to explore it, rather it is to show the similarities between the teachings from Imam Ja'far Al Sadiq (a.s) in a hadith from Mufaddel ibn Omar, and Imam Ahmad Al Hassan (a.s) in his books; The Book of Tawheed, and The Labyrinth or Path to Knowing Allah (swt). If you are an English speaking/ reading Ansar Allah, and you are wanting to read more from the Book of Tawheed, you can find notes that are being taken here from Egypt on it and the Jurisprudence of Imam Mahdi (a.s) as well, along with other aspects of the Dawah at: www.hashemstudios-board.com in the topic “Ansari school in Egypt” just go to the Lecture section. We start by going half-way through Door # 47 of "The Secret Manuscript of Imam Jafar Al Sadiq (a.s)" narrated by Mufaddel ibn Omar, with the sayings of our sixth Imam, Imam Ja'far Al Sadiq (a.s). If any of you need to review this, English translation was done by brother Abdullah Hashem, and you can find this specific door by searching on youtube (Tads 162) and the Hadith we are beginning with starts around 2:27 into the video. Narrated by Muffadel ibn Omar where he said that Imam Ja'far Al Sadiq (a.s) said: ".....And the Least of his Degrees is that which is incumbent upon him in the apparent of Prayers and Fasting and Pilgrimage and Charity and Jihad and other than that of the Religious Laws and Duties." Now let us first understand what it is we are seeking, and what it is Imam Ja'far Al Sadiq (a.s) is saying here in this Hadith. Insha'Allah we all pray and seek that Allah (swt) helps us to exist in only what is Most Pleasing for Him (swt), to such an extent to where we want to reach non-existence. As we know that is what the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) was seeking repentance from Allah (swt) for during his ascension, and it was the“I”, the fact that Muhammad (s.a.w) existed while Allah (swt) existed, and thus this being a sin, and this is why Imam Ahmad Al Hassan (a.s) tells us that our very existence is a sin. And we have also realized through our studies of the books of Imam Ahmad (a.s) such as "The Sealing Prophecy", and the "Book of Tawheed", that if Allah (swt) would have completely forgiven Muhammad (s.a.w), and removed that small dot of darkness, which was the “I” of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w), then he would have dissolved and nothing would have remained but Allah (swt), and this actually happened between the "Flapping" where the veil was removed as much as the eye of a needle. This concept of just a flicker of darkness is true and it is the same with the Imams (as.), and those Prophets of the Uli al-Azem (a.s), the five great Prophets that reached Imamate (a.s), Noah (a.s), Abraham (a.s), Moses (a.s), Isa (a.s), and the Holy and Last Great Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his beautiful Infallible progeny). As so with the rest of the prophets and messengers (as), each according to their rank and status. We find a great example in the Junction of the two seas written by Imam Ahmad (a.s) with the example of Moses (a.s) when he was commanded by Allah (swt) to find someone or something he was better than. Moses (a.s) searched through the people and animals, and could not find anything until he came across a diseased dog. Moses (a.s) tied this dog and began walking it to where he was to meet Allah (swt), but along the way he realized that he did not know which language or in which way this creature worshiped Allah (swt), and Moses (a.s) set the dog free. When he came to the place to speak with Allah (swt), it was told to him that if he would not have released that dog, he would have been removed from the ranks of the Prophets (a.s) and that Prophethood would have been stripped from him. And that is why Imam Ahmad Al Hassan (a.s) says that it did not even cross his mind 9
