The third component of the Magnet ® Model is exemplary professional practice . The Forces of Magnetism represented within this component include : professional models of care , consultation and resources , autonomy , nurses as teachers , and interdisciplinary relationships .
The ANCC suggests that the “ true essence ” of a Magnet ® -recognized organization is rooted in exemplary professional practice . The ANCC states , “ This entails a comprehensive understanding of the role of nursing ; the application of that role with patients , families , communities , and the interdisciplinary team ; and the application of new knowledge and evidence . The goal of this Component is more than the establishment of strong professional practice ; it is what the professional practice can achieve ” ( ANCC , 2021 ).
Exemplary professional practice includes how employees communicate and interact with patients , families , and the interdisciplinary team to provide quality care through best practices . The exemplary employee inspires others with their professionalism , interpersonal skills , respect , and passion for the profession , and they continuously challenge themselves , by pursuing further formal education or professional certification .
