at the national convention, attending chapter presidents had a chance to hear from a mba graduate, stephanie cheng, who started her own mobile game business and one of the most well known experts on the entrepreneurship, bill aulet. the two had very different perspectives, but the message was clear: get started today. being a part of a startup doesn't mean that you have to give up the corporate world. what it can do is give you an opportunity to think differently, develop new skills, and challenge yourself. here are three lessons that bill shared with us that we think you can use both in and outside of your office:
1. a successful entrepreneur should think like a pirate, execute like a marine - meaning, you should think outside the box and be fearless, but make sure your excecution is perfect.
2. you should try to win, but it's okay to fail. - bill says failure is part of the process and we need to celebrate the wisdom that comes from failure.
3. don't fall in love - bill encourages us to resist the temptation to fall in love with our ideas before other people love it too.
