past council members share their experiences

VIRAJ PATEL

university of illinois -

beta pi alumnus

ABOUT ME: i was the former vp of chapter presidents and interim vp of expansion. in my term, i helped to share best practices with our other chapters and began establishing new chapters at several universities. i recently graduated from the university of illinois champaign-urbana with a degree in finance and am excited to say that i joined jp morgan chase as an investment banking analyst this summer. my favorite pgn memory is of a trip to mexico with five other pgn-ers. it was, by far, the best week of my life.

WHY I JOINED THE COUNCIL: pgn gave me everything i wanted out of my college experience. i met great friends, found incredible mentors and gained lifelong memories. i joined the national council to make sure that i did my part to give students at other schools that same opportunity.

being a part of the national council also allowed me to grow from the experiences and knowledge of the other council members. their commitment to pgn and professional success motivated me to want to learn everything they were willing to teach. although my career will require my primary focus for the next few years, i hope to return to the council once i begin business school.

WORDS TO MY FELLOW ALUMNI: reach out to me! i love meeting fellow pgn members whether personally or professionally.

JARED NICHTER

ball state university -

beta kappa alumnus

ABOUT ME: in my role as the former internal vice president, i was responsible for assessing the growth and development of our existing chapters. i graduated in 2009 from ball state university, where i majored in information systems, system analysis and design, currently, i work as an account executive at expedient data centers in indiana. my favorite pgn memory in college was of an olympic style event that we held my senior year of college. we split up into six teams and had challenges throughout an evening. i still have my team's shirt.

WHY I JOINED THE COUNCIL: i decided to join the national council to try giving back to the organization and because i gained a lot from being a member in college. the biggest benefit for me was being able to see some of the chapters grow over the last year and to have that sense of accomplishment.

although i am no longer a part of the board, i plan to stay as inolved as my new, hectic work schedule will allow. i plan to assist with recruiting some chapters in my local area or support the current internal vice president.

WORDS TO MY FELLOW ALUMNI: anyone who wants to stay in touch can email me at [email protected] or message me on linkedin http://www.linkedin.com/pub/jared-nichter/9/187/150.
