One enters, therefore, into a dimension in which space and time make sense only as human convention. That's why, even though it's set in the second half of the sixteenth century, mine doesn't intend to be a "historical novel". The mechanisms that make men act, after all, remain the same and the task of the writer is to get closer and closer to their essence, just as the task of the scientist is to grasp the mechanisms that move the Universe.

The mafia behaviors, for example, far from being a peculiarity of our times and Sicily, are one of the many versions of the automatisms on which live the strategies of power, which, in the final analysis, are "strategies of presence in the world".

For this reason, I believe that the page here reported, in good synthesis, gives the sense of a novel that aspires to its own personality in the flat landscape of contemporary production.
