My gallery friend, Antonio Carrano, took great pains to introduce me to them with words - his goodness! - very flattering about my acumen as an art critic and, unlike what I expected, this did not constitute a bad viaticum. I did not find them, nor did I find them to be far away, nor did I find them to be oracular. I remember that I even expressed some perplexity about the plot of a novel by Pomilio, L'uccello nella cupola (The bird in the dome), and not only did he not suffer from it, but he urged me to be more precise, so much so that that evening I only spoke.
