From the point of view of painting, the artists who, more than others, try to create bridges between sound and color, I'm Kandinskij and Klee.

In this paper we will talk about Kandinsky, because in my opinion it is the one who has better formalized the concept of music applied to painting.

We focus on his writing "The spiritual art" where he speaks of "the principle of inner necessity" and of "effective contact with the soul". The formal negation of nature, of the traditional object, leads the artist to found abstraction, to take possession of the temporal dimension and of the dynamism of music through a semantics completely new and revolutionary.

The artist is obsessed with colors that are "felt" like a "musical chorus" to be fixed on the canvas:

"In general, color is a means that allows to exert a direct influence on the soul. The color is the key, the eye the hammer, the soul, the piano with many strings.The artist is a hand touching one key or another, puts the human soul into vibration .... ".
