F1 Taxi Drivers

I must apologise for the first article we published at 2am Tuesday, it was very early morning when I published this and I believed my sub editors recollection of the events and change the original story. As it turns out I was correct, not the sub editor’ s report. Sorry Cate & Ben. We caught up with some friends we met on their last visit to Vung Tau about 8 months ago, for a chat and a couple of beers. Ben and Cate Bensilum were at the Bia Tươi on Le Loi on Sunday, they told us of their adventures heading towards the airport by taxi after they had
left Na Tran. Leaving the hotel by taxi for a lengthy ride to HCM to conclude their holiday, both Ben and Cate put their seatbelts on in the back of the taxi and started their journey.“ the driver was driving a little fast but we thought all would be okay plus we were too tired to argue” Just over half way the unthinkable happened.
“ Not sure if the bloody driver fell asleep or not”
Stranded on the side of the road with their luggage, for some time, the shock had worn off and the pain of the broken bones and bruising had really started to kick in. A bus heading the same way stopped to give assistance and helped the two onto the bus and proceeded to the Airport. On arrival, while trying to put on a brave face, a Vietnam airline staff member noticed their distraught composure and approached them in line to ask if she could help, they explained what had happened, the staff member immediately called for assistance and a wheelchair. They were then looked after with check in and their baggage was taken care of. Still in much pain and with broken bones they boarded their flight for the trip home, one they still talk about today.
“ We can’ t praise the Vietnam Airline staff enough for all their help”
Now back in Vung Tau for a second visit, even after their ordeal, the happy duo still reckon Vung Tau is the best holiday destination they have been to and want to become regular visitors to the City.
They are careful when choosing taxi drivers now.
