From The Editor
Wow ! since the release of our December issue of “ The MAG ”, our online reader base has skyrocketed to over 46,000 worldwide with more than 30 % from Australia . I would like to thank everyone for their support and all the help from the Team in reaching this milestone . Please continue to enjoy our magazine , online and printed and help to increase the readership by resending or sharing our links to your friends and ask them to like and share also as this will help us to expand our printed distribution to more outlets throughout Vietnam and in the near future into Australia . Our magazine ’ s primary purpose is to encourage people to look at our city in a positive way , promote tourism in turn helping the local economy , local and expat alike . I believe we live in what is best describe as a “ Fantastic ” city full of great friendly people who operate as a caring community and I trust that is evident in our publications . Vung Tau has so much to offer and the more we explore the more it unveils some of its BEST KEPT SECRETS .
I was reading an article published in the Age and the Herald recently , regarding our city or more to the point a sensationism of comments derived from interviews with a few people in town . I believe the undertones within the article depicted expats in Vung Tau with a dim view , apparently , I was not the only one . Several people have approached me to ask if I would write a response to The Age . I am happy to do this however I would appreciate your views to help substantiate what is written , if you have any views whether be pros or cons , send them to me via email feedback @ themagvietnam . com in order to make my response objective and factual rather than the conjecture that seems to have been published by the international press . I know we are only a small voice in the grand scheme of things however if we remain silent it just gives credence to what was published , I look forward to hearing from you .
Tet is nearly upon us once again , it would have to be one of the most significant events in Vietnamese culture and preparations are well on the way to make this year a big one . Life in Vietnam is full of culture and when embraced we become part of it , sure there are some disagreeable proceedings during this period but in the majority , it is a time of joy and family reunion . I trust you will all enjoy the festivities with friends and family but please be aware there is often an influx of undesirables during this time so please be watchful .
Again , thank you everyone for supporting The MAG and we wish you all a Happy New Year .
Thank You !!! AndrewWinterburn Managing Editor
