There are two the big questions I ’ m looking forward to having answered in the upcoming season , and once again the championship is up for grabs to the rider with the best mix of bike setup , skill , tyre decision and of course a touch of luck on the day . Now that Maverick Vinales has moved to join Valentino Rossi in the Movistar Yamaha team , will the ex-Suzuki rider outshine the older pro , or will Rossi be able to use the enthusiasm of the younger rider to place himself on the podium enough times to be reigned MotoGp World Champion a tenth time ( or eighth time in the Premier Class ). Vinales posted the fastest times during testing at Valencia in November
Valencia MotoGP™ Official Test with Rossi producing the same time as Cal Crutchlow to lie in sixth and seventh position . Another question on the minds of many Ducati and Casey Stoner fans is whether Jorges Lorenzo will be able to emulate the success of the Australian rider who won the MotoGP title on a Ducati with a comfortable margin of 125 points . While Lorenzo himself has enjoyed championship titles three times in the Premier Class , the Ducati as a motorcycle seems to need a special kind of rider to remain in control . Even Valentino Rossi never managing to have a successful season in his two years with Ducati , despite winning the Premier Class Championship on both Hondas and Yamahas . So , on the 26th of March the Grand Prix of Qatar will kick off the 2017 MotoGP season , and I can tell you that it can ’ t come soon enough for me . If you ’ re on the fence whether to take an interest - do yourself a favour and try the first few races – it ’ s a different kind of spectator sport where most decisions are left up to the riders , and there is no technical interference from the start of the race right through to the finish .

I ’ ve tried to be as accurate as possible with the rule and team type changes , but I do admit I may have misinterpreted some info – and apologise for the possible oversights .
