Finally, you have Premier Class MotoGP, 1000cc motorcycles capable of top speeds over 330 kilometres per hour. A bit quicker than your average scooter mate, and you’ d probably have to wear brown trousers if you ever managed to get onto one of these machines. Constructors for 2017 are Honda, Yamaha, KTM, Aprilia, Suzuki and Ducati. For all classes, engines must be reciprocating four-strokes with no super or turbo chargers, and also have a maximum of six gears. All teams use Michelin tyres and have various hard or soft compounds available, depending on track temperature and whether the race in in the wet or dry. The teams were split into two types in 2016, Independent and Manufacturer Teams, with the Open Class being abolished. These teams are also split into two distinct types- those who have enjoyed success over the previous years, such as Yamaha, Honda and more recently Ducati having a freeze on engine development
