Although The MAG reported on this venue in the October issue we thought with the holiday season looming it was appropriate to update the article. Vung Tau Fishing Restaurant is a great family day out where the kids can participate and probably catch more than the adults. Fishing with a difference, Hai Luc is situated behind a Garage / Mechanic Shop, so you need to walk down the side of the shop to enter. The fishing ponds have been updated and restocked, you still fish with bamboo poles however the more serious fisher persons are taking their own rods and tackle. The increase in popularity stands as testament to the better quality and quantity of catch been made since our last visit. You may still have to ask for a bucket with ice in to chill down those cans however on the recent visit the beer came out in the bucket, perhaps they have learnt expats like cold beer or maybe its because I have been there too many times, either way it isn’ t an issue just ask.
The menu has changed a little but the prices are still very good. The place still goes a little crazy when someone lands the big one adding to the atmosphere and making you more determined not to give up. We didn’ t see any record breakers on this visit but now the weather is perfect for Sunday afternoon outings, we are getting a crowd together to try our luck yet again. You can still eat your catch or even take it home or for the not so lucky you can order from the menu fishing and enjoy Vietnamese style cuisine.
It is a great way to relax, catch up with friends and enjoy a great meal.
