Charity drive at Belly’ s
During the month a group of ladies got together and decided to have a cake stall with a fantastic display of home cooked goodies, at Belly’ s Watering Hole to help raise funds for the regular“ Food Parcel Program”. The cake stall was a huge success, the response was better than expected, the gentlemen here certainly crave for western home made delicacies, the stall was sold out in under 2 hours raising over 10 million VND. Special thanks go to Colleen, Margaret, Shiela and Dianne for their kind donation of time, ingredients and cooking, they certainly make a wonderful happy team.

The Food Parcel Program is an ongoing event where the locals get together and package a 100 parcels of rice, oil, soya sauce, garlic, 5 packets of instant noodles etc. which are then hand delivered to different areas of very low income communities in and around Vung Tau— Ba Ria by the volunteers. Belly has regular functions and events throughout the year to raise funds for this program and many others including schools and orphanages to mention a few. Another fund raiser was“ Charity Bingo”, which was held in mid August, players and spectators alike throughly enjoyed the night especially with the antics of the Ladies Group. The community spirit of all the people that support these programs is heart warming, there is definitely a sense of belonging and pride in trying to help the not so fortunate. It is great to see where money raised actually goes.
