Lower School Music at Sevenoaks is an
all-encompassing, dynamic and enjoyable
experience. All students in Years 7 and 8
have one class music session a week
where they study a range of topics from the
music of Mozart to Electronic Dance Music.
The lessons are largely practically based
and students have an opportunity to gain
performance, compositional and theoretical
skills whatever their previous experience.
We are fortunate at Sevenoaks to have
wonderful facilities. The classrooms are
equipped with keyboards, extensive
percussion instruments and Apple iMac
computers. These computers have Sibelius
and Logic software which are regularly
used for composition exercises. In lessons
we make full use of these facilities, from
exploring the music of South America using
the samba drums to composing avant-garde
pieces on Logic.
