MUSIC
Lower School Music at Sevenoaks is an allencompassing , dynamic and enjoyable experience . All students in Years 7 and 8 have one class music session a week where they study a range of topics from the music of Mozart to Electronic Dance Music . The lessons are largely practically based and students have an opportunity to gain performance , compositional and theoretical skills whatever their previous experience .
We are fortunate at Sevenoaks to have wonderful facilities . The classrooms are equipped with keyboards , extensive percussion instruments and desktop computers . These computers have Sibelius and Ableton software which are regularly used for composition exercises . In lessons we make full use of these facilities , from exploring the music of South America using the samba drums to composing avant-garde pieces on Ableton .
