What inspired you to write a blog?
I always loved writing but wasn’t able to do the kind of writing I enjoy at my day job. My gay bf would listen to my absurd dating stories and suggested that I write a blog. And I did.
How long have you been blogging?
A little more than two years now.
What advice would you give a new bloggers?
It’s time consuming, you should understand that before going in and consider whether you’re able to make the commitment. Do your research and read a lot of other blogs before you start
your own. What will yours offer that’s different? Make sure you have a clean, easy-to-read design and choose a theme that’s not too overused. Avoid reverse type (white font on a dark background), as it’s very difficult to read. Focus on content and edit like mad. Don’t hit “publish” until you’re really satisfied with what you’ve written. Grammar and style count (in my book, quite a lot), so polish up on these. Read all the articles on Copyblogger - they’ve got great tips. Comment on other blogs and get a Twitter account and interact with bloggers there to start building your traffic. Gosh, I could go on and on. I guess that’ll do for now.
