Looking outside you could see raindrops falling and could hear thunder cackling. The rain was so loud that you couldn’t hear your own footsteps. The bartender asked if I wanted another drink and I told him that was it. I paid him and gave him a tip. I then started walking back to my taxi. I looked up at the buildings and skyscrapers. I wondered about the skylines and the story behind them. I was never a history guy, but wondering about lore occupies every once in a while. Have you ever wanted to be as fast as lighting? I thought of that as a kid.

I unlocked my taxi and sat inside. I started up the car engine and shift into first gear with the intensity of a racecar driver. Feeling good as I checked the rearview, turned the wheel, and slid out of the tight space in one smooth motion.

Not even a block into my journey home, I saw a couple waving me down from the curb of a high-end restaurant. At first, I said to myself, too bad kids, but then I realized I’d forgotten to turn my light off. That's on me. I stomped on the brake. The taxi’s suspension rocked the metal
