Good Day
Jose Chavez Inestroza
I wake up to a dark sky;
Shine lights through it.
I open the door, the cars go and the forest noises fade.
I walk by deer as the day begins.
Soon people to be met, people to greet. This feels a bit
sweet, like kinda real neat.
I smile throughout.
Today’s a good day.
The sun falls, but my smile won’t. If I slow down
time, if there's no escape to the night, will it feel right?
The standard of good has changed,
so take in everyday,
every dawn, every fall.
