Dear Incoming Freshies,
Lemme just smack this out of your brain before anything, FRESHMAN YEAR ISN'T GONNA KILL YOU. I know a lot of teacher's say it's so much harder, but trust me, it really isn’t that different from 8th grade. Maybe navigating the building and what not, but I wouldn’t know. Year’s been all virtual. So? You want a few tips for virtual high school? Well one thing you can do is your work asap.
When you’re online, the illusion of time is what gets to you. You’ll find yourself pushing assignments later and later. Just get them out of the way and enjoy a lengthy afternoon. If you’re like me and have a hard time focusing, take an hour break after school and then get to working to some music or a podcast. You’ll still hate assignments, but at least they’ll get done.
Another thing I advise you to do is check your email constantly. You will miss out on so much because unlike middle school, teacher's just don’t update you on a lot anymore. After all, they’re teaching multiple grades and can't keep up with your freshman shenanigans.
Also, I know socializing can be really hard during these times, so join some clubs! It's an easy way to connect with some awesome people who share the same interests as you! Freshman year isn’t really that different from other school years. Don’t view something so scary and spooky yourself out over it, just flow into and you’ll do just fine.
