Samuel Stein

why would you write

a poem

if it doesn’t rhyme?

without a rhyme scheme

a poem

is just words on a page.

that’s what makes

a poem

so special: there’s

rhythm and flow

and actual skill

that is involved in writing it.

i shouldn’t be able

to

just

place

line

breaks

wherever I want

and be considered

a good poet.

not that

a poem

without rhyming is

bad:

it just shouldn’t be called

a poem.
