My Name

Noman Azhar

My name is as respected

as the Arabic lineage of my family.

As full of patience and stamina

as the Great Wall of China

standing over centuries,

upright,

generation

after

generation.

My name was chosen from heroic men,

given to me with the expectation

of how I can conquer the world,

looking back at the bravery of their hearts.

My name holds the sacrifices of the wars,

of immigration, of cultural loss.

My name is a responsibility

whose tenant is my attitude.

My name is much more

than we hear.

Sometimes

Anonymous

Sometimes,

between the bros and the books,

things get lost.
