My Dark Emotions

Dear Internal Pain,
Darkness keeps me awake at night,
and makes me fearful of what tomorrow is to bring.
This thing inside me is slowly trying to take over,
trying to have it's way,
and do as it pleases.
Certain times, I let it take over.
When I once again control, everything is in disarray
and I regret letting the beast loose.
It burns, it chills, it loves, it hates.
This crippling fear of mine that I hope others share,
so they can know my pain.
This pain in my life— this dark void— waiting to be
ripped from the darkness,
and brought out by friendship and love.
The creature inside must be slain, for if not
I will fall with it.
