Everlasting

Osamwonyi Gbineweka

This dark affection could try to reach the child.

Her promises painted him blind,

but her love for the child, whether calm or wild,

gave him a reason that he must try.

Her promises painted him blind.

Enraged, he said, “I need not eyes to still put up

a fight!”

It gave him a reason that he must try.

So he planned to take the child from her, waiting

for time to be kind.

But God was with the ‘one’,

and took it away from this devastation.

He gave it a home just underneath the sun

and away from damnation….

The boy, now with a daughter, looks at her and says,

as he smiled,

“This dark affection could try to reach the child.”
