Giving and Taking
Hazel Henderson
I gave you the world;
you mistook me for a home.
Giving and taking are two different beings
often drawn together through similar actions.
You mistook me for a home.
Loving and wanting are two different beings
often drawn together through similar actions.
Promises don't last forever.
Love always teaches borders,
but are my walls too shallow?
My hinges wear thin,
haunted by the ghosts of problems that today
are no longer.
Sore from overthinking,
I gave you the world.
