BURG-WÄCHTER LOCKS DOWN OVER A CENTURY AS LEADING SECURITY COMPANY

With over 100 years history , Burg-Wächter has gone from a small familyrun business to one of the world ’ s leading security providers . Founded in Germany ’ s lock-making region , Burg-Wächter has expanded both its product range and business , with multiple sites now in Germany and across Europe . With uncompromising quality and dedicated staff , Burg-Wächter has firmly cemented itself as one of the most trusted companies when it comes to security for your customers ’ families , homes and valuables .
Small beginnings
Burg-Wächter was born in November 1920 when Alfred Lüling founded a trading company in Germany ’ s famous “ lock-making ” region , Wetter-Volmarstein , where the craft can be traced back to the 1750s . With countless small family businesses in Volmarstein even at the turn of the 20th century , Lüling ’ s company initially took over the exclusive distribution in Germany from the then leading lock manufacturer , Burg . With the start of industrialisation leading to the creation of large factories , distribution was expanded to international markets , and Wetter-Volmarstein gained a worldwide reputation as a “ lock-town ”.
‘ preserving the craft of traditional lock making ’
Lüling ’ s company was forced to stop trading temporarily during World War II , but soon after in 1950 , his three sons joined the company . From here a new business was formed ; Burg-Wächter - the well-known name that has propelled it to the globally renowned company
it is today . The company even pays homage its heritage by including Volmarstein castle in its logo . This castle is the trademark of Burg-Wächter and the symbol of its “ Made in Germany ” quality , tradition and innovation .
Today , Burg-Wächter is managed by the 3rd and 4th generations of the Lüling family , and while its headquarter remains in Volmarstein , it has expanded to three other sites in Germany , with Meinerzhagen-Valbert home to its largest production and distribution facility , as well as its research and development department . Keeping production in Germany allows Burg-Wächter to boast a variety of coveted superior German quality products . The company has expanded into France , Romania and China with its UK base located in Bradford . The UK business was formed by the acquisition of Sterling Locks , an established Leeds based security hardware manufacturer back in 2013 . To this day , Burg-Wächter manages to seamlessly blend together the use of advanced industrial production , with preserving the craft of traditional lock making – the secret to its high-quality products .
Bespoke padlock systems
Over the years , Burg- Wächter ’ s product range has expanded vastly , from a variety of traditional padlocks , to certified safes , post boxes as well as smart technology . Using timehonoured practices , it has evolved the padlock , for example , through modern manufacturing techniques and added enhanced security features such as ultra-hard chemically hardened shackles for protection against bolt cutting , to using new materials such as aluminium alloys for padlock bodies . However , one of its most effective solutions is its various key systems .
