But Mark’s route into the auto locksmith industry was not stereotypical. He graduated from Sheffield in 2002 with a BSc in computer science, headed for the big ‘smoke’ and started work for an internet advertising agency in Covent Garden. Five years and various marketing/sales positions later, he felt ready for a new challenge. Mark’s brother in law had been self-employed as an auto locksmith for five years and when Mark accompanied him on a day out on the road, he was hooked on the idea of running his own auto locksmith business. With no previous experience or knowledge, it was a tough start but Mark admits he likes a challenge and he was determined to make it work. “As my skills and knowledge developed, jobs became easier and the business was growing all the time. It was then I started buying stock in bulk via various alternative suppliers to reduce costs and I recognised a gap in the market to expand into auto locksmith supplies. LOCKSMITHJOURNAL.CO.UK | SEP/OCT 2017 Sponsored by Aldridge Security “I partnered with my colleague, Carlo Castagliuolo, to test the market and we were both overwhelmed by the support and encouragement we received. “When Carlo and I launched KeyClick, we knew we were entering a competitive market with a few well-established suppliers, many of whom were supplying a large range of products and competitive prices. We knew, therefore, that for KeyClick to become a success we had to offer something new and provide an even better service. “We identified the fact that most of our potential customers work ‘on the road’ much of the time and need to be able to order parts quickly with minimum fuss. We also saw at the time that many of our competitors had fairly antiquated websites which were slow and difficult to navigate. We designed KeyClick.co.uk for mobile first and are proud of how easy it is for customers to navigate through our online catalogue, add parts to their basket and check out fast. “Personal service is crucial – we will always go the extra mile to keep our customers happy,” says Mark. Fast forward to today and it is no surprise that with this background, KeyClick has become the first choice go-to supplier for many auto locksmiths and key programmers across the UK.
