41 SHOWREVIEW Promoting fire door safety »»ALLEGION PARTICIPATED IN THE inaugural Lockex 2016 exhibition, held from Friday 16th – Sunday 18th Sept 2016 at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, promoting fire door safety and highlighting its leading security solutions. Hosted by The Locksmith Journal, Lockex gave Allegion the opportunity to showcase Briton door closers, the newly launched SimonsVoss MobileKey and CISA cylinder locks for independent locksmiths as well as trade distributors and suppliers. In addition, Allegion’s on-stand experts demonstrated the correct installation and maintenance of fire door hardware to promote the British Woodworking Federation’s Fire Door Safety Week, which began on Monday 26th September. With two doors set up on stand, the global safety manufacturers showed how incorrectly installed door closers would close too quickly, slam shut and thus be ineffective in the event of a fire. A correctly installed closer would close at the optimum speed and still latch securely to the door frame. Fire door gap testers were handed out for building owners to easily test whether their fire doors are safe and legal, meaning they’re within the allowed 3mm gap limit. The testers also featured a mirrored back LOCKSMITHJOURNAL.CO.UK | SEP/OCT 2016 for owners to look above the door for fire door regulatory markings. Simon Osborne, Sales Manager of Allegion, said, “The first Lockex was as fantastic as its billing claimed it would be, and the show itself looked stunning. Attendance was impressive, and we noticed a lot of quality visitors coming to the show throughout the weekend. “We were extremely pleased to be able to showcase our leading brands and products, particularly with the new SimonsVoss MobileKey system that received a lot of interest. We were able to identify various opportunities, and orders were placed from our trade partners. “Most importantly, we were able to increase awareness of Fire Door Safety Week and show building owners firsthand how to check their fire doors for any deficiencies, as well as highlight maintenance and installation issues.” www.allegion.com
