NEW CCTV TRAINING BUSINESS WILL HELP
COMBAT CRIME AND CREATE FIVE JOBS
A training school to help other businesses combat criminal activity by
using CCTV has been launched - and the founder has ambitious plans to
turnover £250,000 and create five jobs within the next six months.
Umar Haq (pictured), of
Manchester, set up Learn
CCTV in response to a
growing demand from
engineers, electricians,
builders and those already in
the industry to be trained in
how CCTV works and how to
install it correctly.
Figures show Britain has
5.9 millions closed-circuit
television cameras - that’s
one for every 11 people - yet
Umar, who has over 15 years’
experience working with CCTV,
estimates that up to 30 percent
of those systems are incorrectly
configured or not operating
to their true potential for
evidential purposes or to
maximise security.
FROM BASIC TO
ADVANCED TRAINING
Learn CCTV offers basic
through to advanced training
to help those who already
work in the CCTV industry
to enhance their knowledge
in order to increase the
protection security cameras
offer. The business also works
with those who want to
develop a new skill set so they
can offer an extra service to
their customers.
Umar said: “Businesses
in the UK spend millions of
pounds buying CCTV, but so
many systems are incorrectly
installed or not set up or
configured in the most secure
way.
“After a long career in the
industry, I realised there was a
gap in the market for a training
service that offers tuition to
those who already deal with
CCTV and those would like to
learn more about it in order
to offer another service to
their customers, which will
in turn increase their profit.
Most training firms leave the
engineers more confused
than when they turned up.
Our aim is to keep the training
simple and hands on so the
trainees understand and take
in more.”
“All too often, businesses
only realise their CCTV isn’t
working as it should be when a
crime occurs - and they don’t
have the evidence they need
to solve it. At Learn CCTV, we
want to help change that by
offering electricians, satellite
installers, builders, engineers
and anyone else interested in
a career in the industry the
chance to learn everything
they need to know.
“We’ve already had interest
from people who want to
expand their portfolio of skills
and businesses and who are
looking to outsource their
CCTV training.
PLANS FOR GROWTH
“We are really excited about
being able to create five new
jobs – we’ll be looking for
a finance director, admin
officer, tutor and two technical
engineers to help us deliver
our ambitious plans for
growth.
“Learn CCTV is one of the
few businesses in the UK
to offer this service so I am
confident that we will meet
our business objectives and
achieve great success.”

James Lambert, Learn
CCTV’s training manager,
said: “The number of security
systems that are incorrectly
installed or not optimised for
the best results is really quite
remarkable. We are aiming to
change that so that businesses
across the UK can be safer
and more secure. “We teach
everything from the very basics
on how CCTV works to how to
utilise high-end IP systems –
and we do it all in a hands-on
