ACCESS CONTROL EXTRA
SMART, SECURE, STYLISH
The Highdown Hotel chooses Dialock from
Häfele for door entrance sophistication.
» THE 13-BEDROOM
Highdown Hotel occupies a
beautiful spot in West Sussex
with the South Downs to one
side and the coast at Goring-by-
Sea to the other. The property
was acquired by hospitality
company Brunning and Price in
2018 and the site has undergone
major renovation, and high on
the design priority list was the
selection of a secure and stylish
door entrance system.
Tom Foster, General
Manager at the Highdown
comments: “We were
particularly looking for
minimal design – subtle
solutions that would work
well with our chosen doors.
We also needed the solution
to be secure and effortless
to use – by staff and guests
alike.”
The design committee
eventually pinpointed the
Dialock DT710 door terminal
sets, designed and supplied
by Häfele. Dialock is an
advanced identification and
locking system which uses
electronic keys, terminals and
programming units to allow
authorised access.
Dialock has been fitted on
all guestroom doors, as well
as on the main entrance door
to the building. The main
entrance is controlled by the
Dialock WT210 wall reader, a
mains operated wall terminal
for offline operation. The
entire set-up is controlled via
the Dialock Hotel software
management tool.
Tom continues: “First
and foremost we liked the
aesthetics of Dialock. We have
slim silver door handles with
a small disc below showing
the wifi symbol. Guests simply
hold their key cards near the
disc for access. The look is
minimalist and clean.
“We also liked the fact that
the keycards are slimline but
very robust, they don’t have
magnetic strips so they can’t
get wiped or corrupted. We’ve
experienced that issue before,
particularly when keycards are
in contact with mobile phones,
and it can be very disruptive.
The ultimate aim is guest
convenience and satisfaction,
and Dialock is helping us to
achieve that aim.”
Once Dialock was installed,
the Häfele team then spent
two days training staff at
the Highdown in usage –
including changing keycards
and setting up new ones.
Select staff were also shown
how to set cards to allocate
authorisation to certain
individuals at certain times.
For example, housekeeping
staff might be issued with
cards which give them room
access between the hours of
9am and 3pm.

LOXAL SECURITY LAUNCHES IDACS +
» LOXAL SECURITY HAS
launched IDACS +, the second
generation of its Intelligent
Digital Access Control System,
which, so says Dan Delaney,
Loxal Director: “builds upon the
strong foundations of IDACS,
with the objective of enhancing
usability, increasing security,
improving connectivity, and to
streamline the way information
is captured.”
The most notable upgrades
are:
Audit: Data will be captured
via Bluetooth (so no SD card
slot); meaning that anyone
who has been authorised, and
has downloaded the newly
developed IDACS+ App, can
retrieve/download audit trails.
These will automatically be
sent to Loxal administration.
Connectivity: Units will pole
to Videofied; enabling Loxal
44
units to become a peripheral
addition to a Videofied panel
and will behave in the same
way, for example, as an existing
OMV (Outdoor motion viewer).
This enables the monitors to
establish the Loxal product is
live and intact remotely, and
means battery levels can be
monitored remotely.
Security: Units are installed
with a tamper device, sending
an alert through to the
monitoring centre if the Loxal
product is removed without
warning or authorisation
(IDACS+ enables up to 500
authorised users).
User interface: When a
correct code is entered a LED
will illuminate to indicate that
the code has been accepted
and will stay illuminated until
the power cycle has been
completed. When setting the
alarm, the LED will flash in time
with the standardised alarm
function configuration. This will
give visual confirmation that the
system is setting.
Clock: Real time clock
synchronisation to occur when
an app-enabled product is
connected to unit. This keeps
important audit data in time
with real time operation.
IDACS+ products:
Key Safes:
• Letterbox (fits in existing
letter flap opening)
• Face Fix/External Control
(wall mounted)
• Door Viewer (internal
fixing through spy hole or
door viewer)
• S-trap (unique strap fixing
on hinge side of door)
Block Lock: Multi-purpose
site/gate lock (chain, Brenton,
hasp and staple)
Locking Bar: Secure front
entrance doors in minutes with
this unique security device.
Lock Converter: Convert
euro cylinder locks to digital
keyless access
Temporary steel security
doors: The most advanced void
security door on the market
Wireless video alarm:
All IDACS products are
compatible with RSI Videofied
Alarm systems.
