The team attended the site and opened the safe lock by none destructive entry (picked), which is when we found that the inside of the safe was rotten after extensive water damage. This was a big issue for the client as they no longer had a place to store their valued possessions. The problem we encountered was that the old Victorian safe was encased in concrete and in order to free the safe it would require some awkward heavy digging and intrusive works. The solution we came up with was to remove the safe door and install a coffer unit that would fit within the old safe walls, as per the photos we made a small safe box with two locks and a dead re-locker in case the locks were knocked off under attack. We removed the old safe door and installed the inner coffer safe to the existing safe body on-site, using instant grab adhesive and eight mechanical fixings from the inside of the safe and the front facing edge. The client was really happy with the outcome, this prevented an amount of intrusive digging works into the wall that nobody LOCKSMITHJOURNAL.CO.UK | NOV/DEC 2018 Sponsored by ABUS would want when it creates so much dust and debris. Any special bespoke security builds are easily achievable at Safe & Vault Company, no matter how big or small. This case study was just another example of how a relatively ‘normal’ job can throw up a more interesting pattern of events during the call-out. It’s all in a day’s work for us though. www.safeandvaultcompany.co.uk
