Following many months of discussions and an extensive vetting process, MPL was awarded the opportunity to deliver training courses and offer City & Guilds assessment from its Wakefield training centre. Looking back on those 12 months, Operations Director, Nicky England, reflected on the take up by experienced locksmiths looking to enhance their skills further – and their career prospects. “It is no secret we were delighted when we achieved City & Guilds Accredited Programme Status. There is no more instantly recognisable symbol of quality in learning than City & Guilds, and for us to be able to offer it was a massive boost for us and a great achievement. It was a reward for the way we deliver our training and the way we work with those who come to us.” “We knew that the opportunity it created for us to offer additional training modules to help existing locksmiths enhance their skills would prove very popular, and it certainly has.” “We also knew it would give those who came back to us the opportunity to enhance their locksmith careers further by using the City & Guilds status to attract more business to themselves – from the General Public who recognise the brand so readily, and through warranty and other commercial work.” “There is no doubt achieving City & Guilds Accredited Programme Status gave us a huge boost at the start of the year, and that momentum carried on throughout the whole 12 months.” “I am happy to share that 2016 was the busiest year yet for MPL ‘2016 was the busiest year yet for MPL Training with record numbers attending our range of courses’ LOCKSMITHJOURNAL.CO.UK | NOV/DEC 2016 Training with record numbers attending our range of courses. The sheer variety of training we offer has been a big part of this – when you are focussed on the industry in the way we are, it gives you a chance to really understand what the market wants, and this has been reflected in the courses we have introduced”. “Particularly well attended has been the high security locking course which gives experienced locksmiths the chance to get to understand how the latest high security products on the market work, and how they can gain access.” “It is one of the great advantages we have that all our trainers remain hands on locksmiths who come across new products every day, and we work with suppliers to understand the technical properties of these products so that we can share knowledge and best practice techniques with our trainees.”
