RECRUITMENT SPONSORED BY SKS SFS LAUNCHES NEW APPRENTICE FRAMEWORK Skills for Security has developed a new framework for the locksmith Industry. This level 2 apprenticeship programme, which will be delivered by Skills for Security, will incorporate a five day residential course at the Master Locksmith Association, followed by another two day residential course also at the Master Locksmith Association a few months later. In between apprenticeship training will consist of both on and off the job training with an allocated assessor covering both technical and competency based elements. Skills for Security is currently in a position to register the first group of 12 to start the qualification. Each group will start once they have 12 apprentices registered for the programme, which means this will run throughout the year. If you would like to take on an apprentice or you already have someone within your business who would benefit from completing the apprenticeship, email info@skillsforsecurity. org.uk to obtain more details regarding the qualification and to check whether you will qualify for any funding. There is also a £1500 AGE Grant available for companies which qualify and are eligible. ‘On and off the job training with an allocated assessor’’ MORE THAN JUST TRAINING A letter from Jonathan Ledger,MD at the National Skills Academy for Materials, Production & Supply. Someone wise once told me that “if you want something different, you have to do something different” . And that’s what we’ve been doing changing our business to better meet your ever-shifting business needs within the constantly evolving skills and training landscape. Over the last 18 months the Proskills UK Group, including its National Skills Academy for Materials, Production and Supply, has undergone a radical and dynamic organisational change. The Government’s move towards “employer ownership of skills” has presented us with the opportunity to transform and become much more commercially focussed while remaining a ‘not-for-profit’ business. We’ve listened carefully to employers and built a whole new range of products and services designed around your needs rather than the bureaucracy that usually surrounds the education sector. Our National Skills Academy continues to serve a wide range of industries, providing specialist, credible skills services from initial research to training design and delivery, through to certification and continuous professional development.
