Fitting the MVP™2000 van lock is a straightforward process that can be done by a competent DIYer with easy available tools . The lock comes with clear instructions , a brief overview of which is outlined below .
Step 1 : Gathering tools and materials Before starting the installation process , make sure you have all the necessary tools and materials ready . These typically include a drill with stepping cutter or drill bits , a screwdriver , hex keys , deburring tool , touchup paint , and the MVP™2000 lock kit .
Step 2 : Marking and drilling mounting holes Using the lock footplate as a template , the mounting hole positions are marked onto
masking tape stuck onto the van door . Holes for the mounting fixings are then drilled according to the marked positions .
Step 3 : Treating drilled bare metal edges Any filings and debris can be removed using a deburring tool and then bare metal protected using automotive touch-up paint .
Step 3 : Installing the lock body Once the holes are drilled , the lock body is aligned with the holes and fixings inserted . Fixings are then securely tightened using a screwdriver and hex keys , checking that the both sides of the body align correctly .
Step 5 : Testing and adjusting After the MVP™2000 has been securely installed , the lock should be operated to ensure it is functioning properly , by inserting the key into the cylinder and also using the push-to-lock method . If needed , any necessary adjustments should be made to ensure smooth operation , making sure all fixings are tightened and that the lock is functioning smoothly .
