n Ireland
y name is Morgan O Donovan I’m the
urrent chairman of the Irish Locksmith
rganisation for the last two years. I really
njoy reading not only your intros; but
lso the articles so I wanted to send you
ur Irish perspective of the Covid crisis…
» AS A DIRECT RESULT OF
he Covid crisis, we have been
nable to arrange our usual
cheduled training days for our
embers; however we have
ow see the importance of our
nline presence through our
hatsApp groups to keep in
ouch and organise webinar
ourses.
Our locksmith sector has
ndergone a number of
hanges since being regulated
n 2017; one of these effects is
eing seen during the crisis as
e have been allowed to do
mergency call out services
hile those of us who also
ave shops must keep the shop
losed for the duration of the
ock down.
Our locksmithing sector has
een recognised as an integral
ervice.
Recently the Irish
overnment has published a
oad map to reopen certain
hops here in Ireland;
ocksmith shops are classified
s hardware providers.
As a result, locksmiths
hops will be one of the first
hops allowed open once they
an comply with Covid-19
uidelines, beginning 18th
ay.
The plan sets out five stages
or unlocking restrictions at
three-week intervals.
Outdoor workers like
builders and gardeners will be
able to return to work.
Some retail outlets - such
as garden centres, hardware
stores, electrical stores,
homewares and repair shops -
will reopen at this point.
Some outdoor sporting
activities, in small groups with
a maximum of four people, will
also be allowed.
Outdoor public sports
amenities such as football
and rugby pitches, tennis
courts and golf courses will
be reopened where social
distancing can be maintained.
Outdoor public amenities
and tourism sites where people
are “non-stationary” and can
maintain social distancing.
It will also be possible to
meet up to four friends and
family from other households
outdoors while maintaining
strict social distancing.
I hope you all stay safe and
well during these uncertain
times.
