68 • DOORCLOSERS&HINGES Step 6 Step 6, prepare the holes for the hinge on the door box. To ensure best possible fix, you will need to use a thin drill and make the holes for the screws. This could be done through the screw holes of the hinge. To make the hole for the second leaf of the hinge, you will need to make 45-degree cuts on the door and make a calculation of the height in relation to the door and to the gap between the floor and the door. There are two ways to do it: 1) use the door box angle and measure with a ruler, make sure the distance is equal to the marks on the door edge 2) take the door Step 6 Step 6 Step 6 box angle and apply it to the door edge, ensuring that the gap between the floor and the door is taken into account, and make marks. Then the same procedure will be applied for the second hinge in the box.
After that the hole can be made with a chisel, and the corners tidied. The door frame and door may be made from different materials. If the door is made of the wood, drilling is required, and if from PVC, the drilling is not necessary. ‘Doors that are mounted on separable hinges, can be removed at any time without disassembling the hinge, but it is necessary to know the orientation of the door in advance’ Step 7, Fix the hinge to the door for both hinges. Step 8, the door frame is fixed to the door. Then the door frame is adjusted using the level. After the installation of the door frame is completed, the door with the hinges is applied to the door frame, the hinges are fixed with the screws.
