Security commitment

»»
SSAIB , THE UK AND Ireland ’ s leading security , fire and telecare certification body , has demonstrated its commitment to IT security by successfully meeting the Government-endorsed Cyber Essentials Plus standard .
The industry-supported Cyber Essentials scheme helps prevent the vast majority of cyber attacks and sets out a range of security controls to help protect an organisation against cyber
threats to its IT systems and software .
The scheme comprises two levels : level one , Cyber Essentials , requires a completed self-assessment questionnaire , with responses independently reviewed by an external certifying body . Cyber Essentials Plus covers the same requirements , but with tests of an organisation ’ s systems being additionally carried out by an external certifying body using a range of tools and techniques .
The move means SSAIB becomes the first certification body within the security and fire sectors to achieve Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation , demonstrating to its 1700 registered firms , as well as insurers , the police , end users , specifiers and others that it takes the issue of IT protection seriously .
Following the news , SSAIB ’ s chief executive Alex Carmichael remarked : “ It ’ s great to see the organisation being awarded with Cyber Essentials Plus as it shows that we are fully committed to IT security .

MEETING STANDARDS

»»
ASSA ABLOY SECURITY Doors has successfully re-tested its products to Loss Prevention Standards ( LPS ) 1175 : Issue 7 , greatly increasing the scope of certification for its security door range .
The doors have been independently tested by the Building Research
Establishment to the latest issue of the security standard , with the doors fitted with the Pickersgill-Kaye range of single and multi-point locking systems .
Nigel Cronin , Sales Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors , explains : “ The purpose of this re-testing was for four key reasons . Firstly , our products have now been tested with Pickersgill-Kaye locking systems , ensuring both SR3 and SR4 doors are standardised with this sought after , high security locking system . Secondly , the doors now offer increased flexibility as they have been tested with single point locks , which help reduce cost , simplify the doorset and lower on-going maintenance . Thirdly , the doors have been tested as double doors , with the option of double panic escape , fully in accordance with the requirements of EN 1125 standards for panic escape hardware .
“ Finally , the doors that have been accredited to security rating 4 have now been tested for both inward and outward opening configurations , which is increasingly requested as a requirement by our customers .”
