Choosing Fire
Door Hardware?
Getting the right combination of hardware
for fire doors can be tricky, so here is
some great advice from UNION.
CERTIFICATION DETAILS,
sizes, applications and control
features can all make selecting and
installing reliable, door closers and
hinges a bit of a headache. And
as these are the foundations for a
properly functioning doorset, they
must be correct otherwise all the
hard work will be in vain.
At UNION we’re always looking to
help improve fire door safety – and
make it easy to choose the right
solutions too. Used together, UNION
door closers and hinges deliver
safety and security, combining
expert design, user-friendly features
and excellent value for money –
backed by extended guarantees to
work both now and in the future.
UNION CE3F
Suitable for doors up to 950mm
in width, the remarkably robust
CE3F holds a unique place in door
closers. It is the only fixed size 3
rack and pinion door closer in its
class that is CE Marked to EN 1154
and fire rated for timber and metal
fire doors in all three mounting
positions: regular, transom and
parallel arm.
It’s also a door closer you can
recommend with confidence. The
CE3F is Certifire approved, so users
can be confident it protects them in
the event of a fire. Plus it is backed
to keep on working by our 10 year
guarantee.
The CE3F is big on value too. With
full instructions, fixings and even
a parallel arm bracket, everything
you need to install a CE3F is in the
box, helping you to make sure the
door meets fire safety standards
whatever the configuration.
Designed and developed in the
UK and manufactured at our own
facility, the CE3F is the first and
only door closer in its class to be CE
Marked in all three positions and be
fire rated for timber and metal fire
doors.
Regardless of configuration, the
CE3F is the trusted door closer.

UNION RETRO 3 AND RETRO 4
Not all door closers work for as
long as a UNION. When updating
existing fire door hardware you will
want to specify a replacement with
more features, better reliability and a
longer life.
But a fire door with additional
holes drilled in it can potentially
fail a fire inspection. So how do you
replace a tired old door closer for a
new one while keeping the original
fire door?
Easy - the Retro 3 & Retro 4 from
UNION.
