The process was carried out in the following stages using the XTool Pad Elite Key Programming device and KC501 , this allows for programming without any dismantling of the vehicle . The spare key used in the images was supplied by Autowave …

We connect the OBD connector into the socket located below the steering wheel as shown in the image ( fig 1 )
The first screen that we will see is the home screen , where you will press diagnosis . ( fig 2 )

Here we have our list of available manufacturers , from here we will select ‘ BENZ ’.
On our next screen we are confronted with 4 options , we are going to choose infrared key system
Our next step is choose the Add Key option from the image shown , this will take us though guided procedure , the other options like EIS functions are useful for checking the operation of the ignition switch circuit .

This image is showing an overview of the steps which will be carried out to complete the adding of the key . Note a good internet connection is required via Wi-Fi or tethering off a mobile device . |
Now connect your KC501 device to our Pad Elite inserting the USB cable supplied with the device into the top of the device ( fig 8 ) and inserting our original key into the EIS but not turning the ignition waiting 5 seconds then removing ( fig 9 ) |

We can now choose the method of communication with the EIS .
