Limited is a Health and Safety
Consultancy and Fire Risk Assessor.
Headed up by Ken Birch, a health
and safety consultant, they help their
customers identify health and safety
issues and advise on suitable safety
solutions.
Ken found his customers were having
problems with heavy fire doors;
the struggle of opening them
which resulted in them being
wedged open.
Ken commented: “Fire
doors were being wedged
open, this can be a
common occurrence, other
fire doors were also being
used as access entrances
constantly being opened and
closed hundreds of times a day.”
Ken discovered Dorgard was the ideal
solution. It easily kept fire doors open
safely, commenting: “We met Fireco at a
Health and Safety show at the NEC. We
formed a Service Level Agreement and we
started to install Dorgard.”
Dorgard allows the user to hold fire
doors open safely, the wireless device
continually listens for a fire alarm and
closes the doors automatically in the event
of a fire.
“We have installed Dorgard in a
number of nursing and residential care
homes, the benefits to the residents hold
fire doors open safely and add benefits
of keeping airflow circulating in the
properties.
“Dorguard has brought more work and
sales, and if I ever see a wedged fire door, I
recommend Dorgard. Installation is quick
and easy.” Ken concluded.

the best possible result.
‘Specification of door hardware – An

It includes main considerations when
specifying architectural ironmongery,
information on the risks and how to avoid
them, tips on choosing an
